What Expecting Moms Should Expect
We are unique here at DelMed Health. All of our pregnant patients meet with our Perinatal Clinical Specialist once their pregnancy has been confirmed. The purpose of this visit is to review in detail the patient's medical history, family medical history, and previous pregnancy history. This provides for a detailed risk assessment for the current pregnancy. If risk factors are identified, the patient is referred to the appropriate specialist. The specialist works with our providers to provide the highest level of care to our high-risk patients. In addition, this visit offers comprehensive pregnancy education including nutrition and common warning signs. The time spent with patients allows them to answer questions and provide reassurance. Patients are given a packet of information at this visit that contains relevant educational information including, diet, safe medications in pregnancy, car seat safetly, childbirth education, and prenatal yoga, SIDS prevention, as well as pre registration documents for the delievering hospital. The packet also contains popular pregancy and baby magazines.
We are also unique in that we offer first trimester screening for all patients. This screening provides risk assessment for certain chromosomal disorders. The screening consists of a blood test, which is done in the office and an ultrasound. We refer the patients to a Perinatologist for the ultrasound due to the sophisticated measurements required for the test.
We believe that the combination of care from our Physician and Nurse providers and the collaborative relationships with our Specialty providers allows us to provide personalized and comprehensive Obstetric care to our patients.
