Your Yearly Visit Matters

At DelMed Health in Lewes, Delaware, yearly gynecologic wellness visits routinely include both a pelvic examination and a clinical breast examination. Dr. Moise also reviews your health, discusses your concerns, and helps plan preventive care. Whether you are a new patient or returning after some time away, we welcome you.

More Than a Pap Smear

A Pap test is one part of cervical cancer screening, not the entire yearly visit. A longer interval between Pap tests does not mean you need to wait that long between preventive visits. Your appointment provides time for examinations, health discussions, and a review of the screenings that are right for you.

Preventive gynecologic care remains relevant through perimenopause and after menopause. Your screening needs may change with age, medical history, and previous results.

Your Pelvic and Breast Examinations

Both examinations are routine parts of a yearly visit at DelMed Health:

• Pelvic examination: Dr. Moise performs a physical examination of the pelvic area and discusses any symptoms or concerns. This examination is separate from collecting a Pap specimen.
• Clinical breast examination: Dr. Moise examines your breasts for changes and discusses breast symptoms or concerns. This is a physical examination, not a mammogram. When mammography is recommended, he can order imaging at an outside facility.

Will I Also Need a Pap Test?

A Pap test is not automatically performed at every yearly visit. It involves collecting cervical cells for laboratory screening. Dr. Moise reviews whether testing is due based on your age, medical history, and previous results.

When testing is due, DelMed Health uses ThinPrep Pap testing, with reflex HPV testing when indicated. Specimens are collected in our office and sent to an outside laboratory for analysis.

Time to Discuss Your Health

Your yearly appointment is also an opportunity to discuss:

• Medical and family history, medications, menstrual changes, and other concerns.
• Birth control, pregnancy plans, fertility questions, and STI testing when appropriate.
• Perimenopause and menopause symptoms, including hormone replacement therapy (HRT) when medically appropriate.

Getting Ready for Your Visit

Bring your medication list, insurance information, and questions. Let us know about previous Pap tests, mammograms, or relevant care completed elsewhere so we can help identify records needed for your visit.

If you have a new symptom or concern, tell us when you call rather than waiting for your next yearly appointment. This helps us arrange the appropriate visit.

Your Comfort Matters

Please discuss questions or concerns before an examination begins. Examinations require your consent; you may decline an examination or ask to pause or stop at any time.

A female member of our office staff is available to be present during your examination with Dr. Moise upon request. These staff members are nonclinical and do not perform examinations or provide medical care. Let us know when scheduling or during your visit.

Dr. Moise speaks English, Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole.
